Not a Skier? Try Snowshoeing This Winter

If you’re looking for a winter sport for the whole family, newcomers to Colorado, or just an alternative to skiing, try snowshoeing this winter. My Denver Post article highlights trails that are likely to have snow deep enough for this sport and an abundance of gorgeous scenery from waterfalls to historic huts. I’ve also included tips on where to rent snowshoes if you don’t own a pair.

Be sure to check the conditions before you drive to the trailhead and consider taking an avalanche preparation class ahead of time.

Tip: join the Rocky Mountain Conservancy for one of their guided snowshoes treks in Rocky Mountain National Park.
