Western Traditions: Livestock Parades

Moving livestock—such as cattle and sheep—is as old as the West itself. In some Western states, this is put on display annually during a parade where spectators can observe the life of a rancher or herder in action as the move hundreds of animals down a city street. Then enjoy the local show or festival where you can learn more about the agricultural life.

In my Denver Post article, read about the National Western Stock Show Parade in Denver, Colorado, the Trailing of the Sheep Festival in Ketchum, Idaho, and other events throughout each year where you can learn about this heritage of the West.
